AUBURN, Ala. - Four members of the Auburn men's tennis team gained key experience this weekend in the Duke James Bonk Invitational held at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., the Tigers' first competition of the fall tournament season.
Senior Viboosh Chandrasekar, junior Brandon Laubser and freshmen Diego Chavarria and Alex Mascioli represented Auburn in the event that included singles and doubles entries from Duke, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Louisville, North Carolina, UNC Charlotte, North Carolina State, North Florida, Princeton, VCU and Wake Forest.
Highlights of the weekend included an opening round singles win by Laubser over Leonardo Menezes of UNC Charlotte by a 7-6, 6-7 (4) 6-2 score, and a 6-2, 7-5 win by Mascioli over Gardner-Webb's Breno Pletz for Mascioli's first collegiate win.
Auburn will be back in action September 22-23 as part of the inaugural Albany College Invitational along with Georgia Tech and Michigan at Albany Resort in New Providence, Bahamas.
