AUBURN, Ala. -- Tickets are on sale now for the Auburn Diamond Club's 16th annual preseason banquet set for January 28 from 6-8 pm at Auburn Arena.
The banquet is held each year prior to the beginning of baseball season to celebrate upcoming team and recognize standout Auburn players from the past. This season's featured alumni are Rodney Rushing (1977-80), Jay Waggoner (1992-95), Josh Etheredge (1995-98) and Sean Gamble (2002-04).
Rushing played in 149 games in his four-year career and won a SEC West title as a senior in 1980. Waggoner led the Tigers in hits in back-to-back seasons from 1994-95 including a SEC-best 119 in 1994. He still holds Auburn's all-time career hits record with 341.
Etheredge belted a program-best 59 homers in his Auburn career including 21 in 1998. Gamble was a sixth-round selection by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004. He led Auburn with 20 doubles that season while batting .293.
