No. 11 Men's Golf finishes 2nd at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. - No. 11 Auburn men's golf had an outstanding final round at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, carding a 13-under 267 Tuesday at the Old Overton Club to finish second in the event as all five individuals finished in the top-20.

The Tigers' 13-under final round is tied for the seventh-lowest in school history, tied with the 2nd and 3rd rounds at the 2006 Jerry Pate National.

"I'm really proud of the team as they showed lots of pride and heart today," head coach Nick Clinard said. "We grew up a lot today and finally made some putts. This team has loads of firepower and the ability to compete with anyone."

Freshman Brandon Mancheno once again led the way with his second-straight top-10 finish. The Jacksonville, Fla., native carded a bogey-free 5-under 65 with birdies on Nos. 5, 12, 14, 15 and 16 to climb 19 spots and finish tied for ninth at 3-under 71-71-65--207.

Fellow freshman Wells Padgett (72-67-69--208) and sophomore Jovan Rebula (71-70-67--208) finished a shot back at 2-under in a tie for 13th. Padgett tallied four birdies in the final round while Rebula, a native of George, South Africa, carded six as part of a 3-under final round.

Junior Jacob Solomon climbed 18 spots on Tuesday to finish t-16th following a 4-under 66 final round that included a pair of birdies on the front and four straight on Nos. 13-16 on the back. The product of Dublin, Calif. finished at even-par 74-70-66--210.

Junior Trace Crowe rounded out the Tigers' contingent with a t-18th finish at 2-over 68-73-71--212.

No. 4 Alabama won their hosted event at 19-under 277--821 with Auburn finishing just six shots back. No. 7 Baylor (282--828) finished third followed by BYU (290--841), No. 16 Arkansas (287--842), UNLV (285--847), Mississippi State (279--853), South Alabama (289--854), UAB (288--858), Charlotte (284--861), Michigan (290--863) and Samford (298--884).

The Tigers wrap-up the fall portion of the 2017-18 schedule with a trip to Windermere, Fla. for the Tavistock Invitational Oct. 22-24.
