SAN ANTONIO, Texas ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn women's golf team completed the first round of the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational on Sunday at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
Senior Kelli Murphy led the way for the Tigers with a 1-over-par 73 that included two birdies and three bogeys. She is tied for 16th place. Freshman Mychael O'Berry, in her collegiate debut, had the next-best round for Auburn with a 75 (+3); O'Berry is tied for 29th place after 18 holes.
Auburn's other counting scores were a 76 (+4) from freshman Kaleigh Telfer and a 77 (+5) from senior Michaela Owen.
The Tigers shot 301 (+13) as a team in Sunday's opening round and are in 11th place. Arkansas leads the tournament at 7-under, followed by TCU at 2-over. Kansas State's Connie Jaffrey is the individual leader after one round with a 66 (-6).
Round two gets underway at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Auburn will be paired with North Texas and Texas State on the 10th tee. Live scoring is available at birdiefire.com.
