LAWRENCE, Ks. - Auburn women's tennis picked up 11 wins (six singles, five doubles) over three days of play at the Kansas Invitational hosted by Kansas University at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
The tournament, which ran from Oct. 27-29, included Texas Tech, Wichita State, Washington, Maryland and host-Kansas.
Freshman Jaeda Daniel picked up her eighth and ninth wins of the season over Texas Tech's Katelyn Jackson (7-5, 6-0) and Kansas' Despoina Vogasari (6-3, 6-2). The Port Charlotte, Fla. product also teamed up with Taylor Russo to pick up a win in doubles over Washington's Kobayashi and Wong.
Russo, No. 60 in the preseason singles rankings, picked up another ranked win over No. 120 Alex Valenstein of Texas Tech, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7). The sophomore is fresh off a runner-up finish at the ITA Southern Regional Championships.
The doubles pairing of Caroline Turner and Mary Katherine Lewis resulted in a pair of victories as the duo took down Maryland's Sullivan/Stretton 6-0 and Kansas' Policare/Martorell 6-3. Turner also picked up two singles wins to earn Nos. three and four on the season.
