AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arkansas (7-6-1, 2-2-1 SEC) Thursday evening at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The Tigers (5-4-3, 2-1-2 SEC) outshot the Razorbacks, 14-10, but failed to find the back of the net.

"We gave up a couple of goals on our own mistakes," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "The good thing about that is it can be fixed. It was just us making two defensive mistakes. We still have to work on our efficiency. I thought we created enough chances, we just didn't have the quality in the final third. We just shot ourselves in the foot tonight."

The Auburn offense was led by sophomore Bri Folds, who rifled five shots. Teammates Courtney Schell and Ellie Leek accounted for two shots apiece, while one of Schell's was on frame. Five other Tigers also contributed a shot in the match, including one on frame from Gianna Montini.

Arkansas was on the attack in the early stages of both halves. The Razorbacks scored off a corner kick six minutes into the match and tacked on a goal less than two minutes after intermission.

The goals allowed by the Tigers were just the second and third in five conference matches. The Auburn defensive unit hadn't allowed a goal in approximately 280 minutes entering Thursday's contest.

Seven Tigers went the distance in the match, including Sarah Le Beau, Sarah Houchin and Caroline Bado, who've continued to play every minute of every match this season.

Auburn returns to the pitch Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for a showdown with Alabama at 5 p.m. CT. The Tigers will look to retain the Iron Bowl Trophy, which is awarded to the winner of the in-state rivalry each season.
