VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" No. 11 Auburn men's golf is in fifth following 36 holes of play at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, carding an even-par 282-278--560 Monday at the Old Overton Club.
Freshman Wells Padgett carded a 3-under 67 in the second round with five birdies on Nos. 5, 6 and 9 on the front and 16 and 18 on the back, and currently sits in a three-way tie for 16th at 1-under 72-67-139 to lead the Tigers.
Sophomore Jovan Rebula and junior Trace Crowe are tied for 23rd at 1-over. Rebula (71-70-141) tallied six birdies on the day, and eagled the par-5 16th in the second round.
Crowe, a native of Bluffton, S.C., carded five birdies as part of a 2-under 68 opening round.
Freshman Brandon Mancheno is t-28th at 2-over 71-71-142 while junior Jacob Solomon is tied for 34th at 4-over 74-70-144.
No. 4 Alabama leads at 16-under 271-273-544 followed by No. 7 Baylor (269-277-546), BYU (280-271-551), No. 16 Arkansas (286-269-555), Auburn, UNLV (277-285-562), South Alabama (291-274-565), UAB (287-283-570), Michigan (288-285-573), Mississippi State (286-288-574), Charlotte (287-289-576) and Samford (295-291-586).
Arkansas' Mason Overstreet holds the individual lead at 10-under 65-65-130.
