SEC Release

AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn volleyball senior Macy Reece was named to the 2017 SEC Volleyball Community Service team, the league office announced Wednesday.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Reece, the 2017 SEC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, has been very active during her time on the Plains. She served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years as a representative and then on the Executive Team for a year. Some of Reece's many community service projects include working with the Jason Dufner Foundation, stuffing backpacks with food for children in the area that are in need. She was also a major contributor in the food drive competition among all Auburn student-athletes that benefited the Auburn University student food pantry.

With her team, Reece has been a part of the Downtown Trick or Treat festival in Auburn every year where the team signed autographs and passed out candy. In addition, she and her team have spent time playing volleyball and other activities at the BraveHeart Center for Place and Purpose in Auburn ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" a place that provides individuals with disabilities opportunities to grow in many areas including health and fitness. Reece and the team also sponsor a child through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program every year.

Among other activities, she has also read to students at Dean Road Elementary and was also a part of the BIG Event ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" a university volunteer day that gives students the opportunity to provide community service tasks within the city of Auburn.

A three-time of the SEC Academic honoree, Reece is the recipient of numerous academic awards through the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business. She graduated with her degree in finance in three years and is currently in her first semester of the MBA program.
