AUBURN, Ala. - Trussville, Ala., native and left-handed pitcher Carson Skipper is the latest member of Auburn's 2018 signing class to be announced by head coach Butch Thompson and the baseball coaching staff.

High School for coach Jeff Mauldin ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ rated the No. 7 left-handed pitcher and No. 34 overall player in the state by Perfect Game ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ also tabbed the No. 98 southpaw nationally ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ posted an 11-2 record with a 1.83 ERA as a sophomore ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ his 11 wins are a school record ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ led Hewitt-Trussville to its first AHSAA State Championship in 2016 and earned Tournament MVP honors ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ posted an 8-1 record with a 1.31 ERA and 91 strikeouts as a junior ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ two-time ASWA First Team All-State and First Team All-Birmingham Region honoree ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ 2016 and 2017 Underclass High Honorable Mention ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ selected to represent the North All-Stars in the 2017 North-South All-Star Games ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ son of Scott and Tammy Skipper ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ has one sister, Katelyn (22), who also attends Auburn ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ his father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all collegiate athletes ÃÆ'¢Ãƒ¢'¬¦ great-grandfather, William Henry Cuppett, played professional baseball for the Buffalo Bisons.

AuburnTigers.com: Why Auburn? What makes it special?

Carson Skipper: Auburn has always been a home for me. I've grown up an Auburn fan, and it has always been my dream school.

AT: How do you see the decision to come to Auburn impacting your life?

CS: Auburn is one of the best schools in the country, and having the opportunity to come here a student-athlete is very special. It will impact my life by providing me with a degree to fulfill my future career.

AT: What is your favorite thing about baseball?

CS: My favorite part about the game is getting the chance to compete every day. When I step on the mound, my mindset immediately becomes beating the guy at the plate.
