AUBURN, Ala. -- Incoming Auburn women's golf freshman Brooke Sansom was named the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year, the SJGT announced this week.

Sansom, from Pike Road, Ala., won all four SJGT events in which she played in 2017, taking titles at Lakewood GC, Montgomery CC, Wynlakes G&CC and Willow Point G&CC. She had a tournament scoring average of 70.25 in those events with just two rounds over par. In the event at Wynlakes, she carded a tournament-record 64 (-8) in the opening round.

"Brooke deserves this award as she is such an incredibly hard worker," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "The SJGT covers the entire Southeast, which is full of great talent. We can't wait to add this talented young lady to our roster."

In addition, she was an AJGA Rolex All-American and won the Alabama high school state title in 2017, setting an AHSAA record for low round in a state championship tournament (6-under 66).

Sansom, who signed with Auburn in November, will join the Tigers in January and redshirt during the spring semester. She will begin competing for Auburn in the fall of 2018.
