Six to Join Auburn Volleyball in 2018

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn volleyball head coach Rick Nold announced the addition of six student-athletes for the 2018 season.

Joining the Tigers will be setter Mica Allison, outside hitters Taylor Rowland, Tatum Shipes, and Val Green, and defensive specialists Bella Rosenthall and Katie Persons.

"We are extremely excited to welcome this 2018 class to the Plains," Nold said. "This will be the highest rated class ever brought into our program and it will be fun for our fans to watch their development."

MICA ALLISON

Position: Setter
Height: 6-1

Nold on Allison: "Mica brings a unique set of skills as both a setter and a hitter that will have a tremendous impact during her time at Auburn. This summer, she made the USAV Youth team as a setter, but ended up starting as the six-rotation right-side hitter and played that position throughout the World Championship. More than that, Mica is a tremendous teammate and leader and we expect her to come in and make an immediate impact. She will be starting in the spring, which will help build team chemistry leading into the 2018 season.

Position: Outside Hitter
Height: 6-2

Nold on Green: "Val is a talented player that we targeted early in the recruiting process. One of the first things I noticed about her is the potential to be a great six-rotation player and I'm excited to see her continue to develop that part of her game. I can't wait to get her on campus and I think our fans will have a lot of fun watching Val these next four years."

KATIE PERSONS
Hometown: Grand Rapids, Mich.
High School: East Grand Rapids
Club: Michigan Volleyball Academy
Position: Defensive Specialist
Height: 5-3

We expect her to come in and provide an immediate impact in the back row. She continues a run of defensive players coming from the Municiana club program that includes outgoing All-SEC player Jesse Earl and returning starter Payton White.
