AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn men's tennis team opens its spring dual match season Sunday hosting Jackson State in a pair of matches indoors at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Auburn will face the JSU Tigers in a 9:30 a.m. match and then play again at 2:00 p.m. Both singles and doubles will be contested in both matches.
"We'll try to get as many in action as we can," Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds said. "It's a good weekend for a doubleheader because we only started practice for the semester three days ago. To be able to play another team and get a lot of doubles looks and singles sets leading up to our match the following week at Georgia Tech will be beneficial.
"The guys did a really good job over break in doing what we asked them to do, and some of them played some tournaments, which is a change from years past, so they came back to practice ready to go. I'm hoping to mix it up Sunday and let a lot of different guys see action in different spots and use that as a gauge going forward."
Auburn has a balanced roster, led by seniors Edward Nguyen and Viboosh Chandrasekar. Juniors are Brandon Laubser and Olle Thestrup, and sophomore returnees are Carles Sarrio and Michael Durham. The squad has six freshmen: Diego Chavarria, Alex Mascioli, Alexander Rushin and January enrollees Lorenzo Rodriguez, Tad Maclean and Matteo De Vincentis.
Free coffee and donuts are available at Sunday morning's match. All Auburn home matches are held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
