BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore sprinter Akeem Bloomfield has been named SEC Men's Co-Runner of the Week for his performance at the Commodore Invitational, the league office announced Tuesday.
Bloomfield, a product of Kingston, Jamaica, clocked the fastest time in the nation in the 400m so far this season to win the Commodore Invitational men's 400m with a time of 45.92.
Bloomfield tied Sanjay Ayre's time in the 2000 season for the fourth-fastest time in school history. He now holds three of the top five times in the indoor 400m in Auburn history, including the school record of 45.43.
Bloomfield is the first Auburn track and field athlete to earn a SEC weekly honor since Odean Skeen was named SEC Co-Runner of the Week on April 25, 2017.
