Being a gymnast has taught freshman Drew Watson more than just the physical aspect of gymnastics. It has helped her build character traits that will carry on with her for the rest of her life. In fact, her favorite aspect of being a gymnast is maintaining a determined mindset in whatever she pursues while also teaching her the importance of being dedicated in all that she does.

Before coming to Auburn, Watson competed for Texas East Gymnastics. She was a three-time JO Nationals qualifier in 2012, 2013 and 2016. Watson was also the 2016 JO National Vault Champion including being the 2016 Region 3 Vault Champion. She feels that making the decision to continue her gymnastics career at Auburn was truly something she could not pass up.

Q: What is your mindset going into each gymnastics meet?
A: To go out there and show off what we practice so hard for in the gym every day and just to be normal just like we practice.

Q: What are your goals while being at Auburn?
A: To participate and help the team consistently make it to nationals.

Q: If you could have any super power what would it be and why?
A: If I had a super power it would be to fly. I love traveling and if I could fly then I could do it for free!

Q: If you could compare yourself to someone famous, who would you compare yourself to?
A: I would like to think Blake Lively, but I'm more of an Alex Morgan because she's athletic and competitive and seems like she works hard to get to where she wants to be.

Q: What made you want to come to Auburn?
A: I loved the coaches and the amount of support Auburn provided. It was truly something I couldn't pass up.

Q: What's your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: Saying 'War Eagle' to everyone wearing Auburn.

Q: What do you miss most about home?
A: I miss my mom and her making dinner and going grocery shopping for me.

Q: What made you want to pursue a major in exercise science?
A: I'm really interested in learning about the body and what muscle affects another thing when leading to an injury.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of being a gymnast?
A: Having the mindset to never give up and to be dedicated to something. Also really knowing what it takes to get where you want to be.

Q: What's your favorite memory as a gymnast?
A: Getting to travel to a bunch of places because of competitions.
