No. 5 Tigers Best Alabama, 8-4, in Hunt Seat Exhibition

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The No. 5 Auburn equestrian team put together a solid performance on the road to start the second half of the 2017-18 season, topping Alabama, 8-4, in a hunt seat exhibition. The teams went head-to-head in Tuscaloosa Friday afternoon.

"The team rode great today," head coach Greg Williams said. "Kudos to associate head coach Jessica Braswell for having the team ready to ride despite of wintery conditions this week. This is a great way to start the spring half of our season."

Auburn bested the Crimson Tide in Equitation Over Fences, 4-2. Freshman Emma Crosbie led the team with 84 points in her win over Lauren Neibauer, while sophomore Anna Claire Smith followed with an 83-72 victory over Kasey Emm. Junior Alex Ladove kicked things off with an 80-77 win, while freshman Carly Hoft picked up a 78 for another Auburn point.

The Tigers put together another 4-2 performance over Alabama in Equitation on the Flat with senior Caitlin Creel leading the way. The Chicago product earned a team-best 85 points on her winning ride. Ladove once again opened the discipline with an 84-68 victory over Grace Grove, while classmate Casey Schmitz topped her opponent, 82-68. Junior Mackenzie Michaels earned a 77-56 victory to close out the team scoring.

The full Auburn squad takes to the road to start February, facing a pair of tough opponents away from the Plains. The Tigers will travel to No. 7 Baylor, Feb. 2, before taking on No. 4 Oklahoma State, Feb. 3, in Stillwater.
