BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Auburn women's tennis team was picked to finished fifth in the annual Southeastern Conference coaches' preseason poll, the league announced Wednesday.
Auburn received 138 points in the preseason poll, voted on by the women's tennis head coach at each institution and is based on a 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 vote.
The Tigers join eight other league teams ranked in the top-25 of the preseason Oracle/ITA team rankings. No. 14 Auburn joins No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 Georgia, No. 15 South Carolina, No. 18 Arkansas, No. 21 Kentucky, No. 22 LSU and No. 23 Ole Miss.
The Tigers will be looking to ride the momentum from last season's success after finishing with a program-record 25 victories. Auburn returns seven players from last season, including seniors Andie Dikosavljevic and Alizee Michaud, who combined for 53 singles victories in 2017. Dikosavljevic's 20 wins helped her finish with a national ranking of 38, while Michaud's 58 combined wins (33 singles, 25 doubles) were the most in a single season in school history. The Orlando, Fla. native also finished the season with a national ranking of 22.
