AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn gymnastics team enters the week at No. 17 on the RoadtoNationals.com weekly rankings. The Tigers hold 195.800 average four meets into the season.
"We've got another big meet this weekend in Auburn Arena," head coach Jeff Graba said. "Florida is coming off a huge win over No. 1 Oklahoma and is ranked fifth in the nation. It's going to be another test for our young team and we're excited to have our fans pack Auburn Arena on Friday!"
Oklahoma and LSU continue to be the top teams nationally with the Sooners coming in at No. 1 and the Tigers at No. 2. Utah, UCLA, and Florida round out the Top 5. The remaining Southeastern Conference teams are in the Top 25 ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Kentucky (6), Arkansas (8), Alabama (10), Georgia (14), Missouri (23).
The Tigers continue to climb in the rankings on vault, bars, and beam after solid performances last week against Kentucky. The team is 10th on vault with a 49.019 average and stands 12th on both bars (49.006) and beam (49.031).
Junior Samantha Cerio continues to be a steady force on the team and stands tied for 11th on bars with a 9.894 average.
Auburn remains on the Plains, hosting No. 5 Florida in a SEC meet next Friday, Feb. 2. The Tigers take on the Gators at 6 p.m. CT in Auburn Arena and the contest will be televised on SEC Network. Tickets are available at AUBtix.com.
