AUBURN, Ala. -- Transfer Skyler Sheppard will join the 2018 Auburn gymnastics roster and is set to compete for the Tigers this season, head coach Jeff Graba announced Wednesday.
"We are all very excited to have Skyler join our Auburn family," Graba said. "She is going to be a great addition to our team! I think Skyler will be pushing right away for a spots in the vault, beam and floor lineups. She is a dynamic performer and has college experience under her belt. She should be able to come in and contribute quickly as she has done a great job on her own this fall of preparing herself for this season."
Sheppard, a junior, comes to the Plains following two seasons at Arizona where she competed in three events for the Wildcats -- vault, balance beam, floor. As a sophomore, she had an outstanding meet against Stanford (1/29/17), setting career highs on beam (9.925) and floor (9.875). In addition, she picked up a pair of 9.875s on vault last year to reach another career high.
The Plano, Texas, product, trained with World Olympic Gymnastics Academy. She captured the 2015 Region 3 all-around crown, while also securing the 2013 Region 3 vault title.
The No. 14 Tigers kick off the 2018 season in Arizona, traveling to Tempe for the Arizona State Quad Meet. The team will take on host and No. 31 Arizona State, No. 20 Iowa, and No. 29 Iowa State at 5 p.m. CT, Jan. 6, in Wells Fargo Arena.
