AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn Track and Field men's team saw a jump of 10 spots in the week two release of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national team rankings. The poll has the Tigers as the 21st best team in the country.
Auburn is one of seven SEC teams featured in the Top 25 making the SEC the most represented conference in this week's poll.
"Being ranked No. 21 is exciting, but our goal is to get better and improve as the year goes on," Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. "I think we've got a solid squad at the national level, and it's nice to be recognized in the national rankings. We know that we still have a lot of work to do as we work towards SECs and the ultimate, the national championships, to get to that meet and do what we are capable of doing."
Through the first three events of the 2018 indoor season, the Auburn men have compiled 30 personal records and eight wins. Auburn runners currently hold two top five times in the nation. Akeem Bloomfield, a sophomore, possesses the second fastest time in the 400m with a blistering time of 45.92 while a fellow sophomore, Raheem Chambers, holds the fourth fastest time in the nation for the 60m with a time of 6.62.
The 4x400 relay team of Nathon Allen, Bloomfield, Joshua Burks, and Randall Ceneus also owns the fourth fastest time in the nation at a speedy 3:06.60, which gives them the second fastest time in school history.
The Tigers have this weekend off before they head back to Clemson, S.C. to wrap up the indoor regular season in the Tiger Paw Invite.
