AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn soccer opens its spring season with a home exhibition match against Clemson Saturday. Kickoff at the Auburn Soccer Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
"The girls have been working really hard this spring, and we're excited to play an outside opponent," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "Clemson is a great team, and this game will be a really good measuring stick for where we are right now and what we need to continue to work on the rest of the spring."
The Tigers return seven starters from last fall, including players at every level.
Goalkeeper Sarah Le Beau headlines the group and will have the luxury of returning three of four starting defenders at the end of last season in Sarah Houchin, Alyssa Malonson and Taylor Troutman.
Gianna Montini will look to control the pace of play in the midfield, while Bri Folds, who returned from the U.S. Under-19 Women's National Team training camp earlier this week, and Jaelyn Gadson will lead the offensive attack.
Auburn and Clemson met in Clemson, S.C., last August and battled to a double-overtime result with the homestanding Tigers emerging victorious, 2-1.
After their duel with Clemson, the Tigers will hit the road for a match at Troy on Saturday, Mar. 3 at 1 p.m. CT. The team is scheduled to play five exhibition matches this spring, and a complete schedule can be found here.
