No. 15 Tigers Finish with a 194.875 at No. 10 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The No. 15 Auburn gymnastics team kicked off a busy weekend with a 194.875 at No. 10 Arkansas Friday in Barnhill Arena. The Razorbacks took the meet with a 196.75.

"We have a really young team and some things just pop up that force them to face adversity," head coach Jeff Graba said. "We had to throw three freshmen into spots that they have never been in before and overall, I'm proud with the way the team adjusted. I'm happy with the their mentality, but am ready for them to stop stepping on their own toes. We need to regroup quickly if we want to be successful Sunday afternoon."

The Tigers (2-6, 1-4 SEC) opened the meet on bars, scoring a 48.275 and having to count a fall. Sophomore Gracie Day led the squad with a 9.85, while freshman Drew Watson followed with a 9.825. Junior Taylor Krippner put together a 9.8 for the squad and sophomore Kendal Moss contributed to the team score with a 9.775.

Auburn moved on to vault, seeing Watson lead the group with a 9.825. Day added a 9.8, while Krippner chipped in a 9.75. Freshman Ashley Smith got her first career nod in the event for Auburn and scored a 9.725. Junior A'Miracal Phillips earned a 9.675 for the Tigers.

The team headed to floor in rotation three, finishing with a 48.9. Redshirt junior Abby Milliet led the charge with a career-tying 9.9 to earn the event title. Redshirt sophomore Emma Slappey and Watson each contributed a 9.8, while freshman Jada Glenn earned a 9.725 in her first appearance in the event. Smith's 9.675 was added to the team score.

The final rotation had Auburn earn its highest event score of the night, taking away a 48.925 on beam. Milliet picked up another event title with another 9.9, earning her third-straight 9.9 of the season. Freshmen Allie Riddle and Meredith Sylvia each tied career bests with a 9.85 apiece and Krippner anchored the event with a 9.8. Slappey chipped in a 9.525 for the squad.

Auburn caps the busy weekend at Texas Woman's University Sunday, Feb. 11. The Tigers will go against TWU, NC State, and Pittsburgh in a quad meet starting at 2 p.m. CT in Denton, Texas.
