At Auburn University, I inspire by being a role model.
Many of our students come from the same place I did. First generation students who don't have the advantages that others might have had.
But that doesn't mean you can't be successful. I'm living proof.
As a three-time graduate of Auburn University, I know first-hand that Auburn is a place where you can be successful. A place where people will support you. A place where dreams come true.
I think about my experiences every day.
From the day I arrived at Auburn from Uniontown, Alabama more than two decades ago, I felt valued and cherished. I felt welcome.
As we look to the future, I am inspired by President Leath's commitment to increase access for educational opportunities and lifelong learning across Alabama, especially in underserved communities. We will be recognized by the State as the first resource for providing innovative solutions to social, economic and environmental issues that allow Auburn to showcase the talents of our students and faculty. We will expand Auburn's capacity to provide assistance to individuals and communities, we will encourage innovation and we will create new opportunities that elevate our university-community partnerships.
Under President Leath's leadership, Auburn University is most definitely on the move.
