Haley Black, Breanna Roman and Aly Tetzloff will all swim in consolation finals following Friday morning's prelims session at the 2018 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion. Finals begin at 4:00 p.m. CT.
100 Butterfly
Both Black and Tetzloff will return on Friday night after posting the ninth and 13th-fastest swims of the morning. Black will be in lane 4 of the consolation finals after posting a 51.61, which is tied for the 10th-fastest performance in school history, while Tetzloff posted a 51.91, which is now the 20th-fastest performance in school history. Black now holds five of the 11 fastest performances in school history.
Bailey Nero finished 22nd in 52.36, a jump of 14 places from a year ago for the junior.
200 Freestyle
Erin Falconer posted a 1:45.55 in the morning, which was just .02 seconds off of her seed time. The time won her heat by .36 seconds and placed her in a tie for 28th in the field.
100 Breaststroke
Roman became the third-fastest performer in Auburn history with a 59.50 swim to win heat 3 of prelims. The time placed her 11th in the field, assuring the senior of her first individual All-America honor this evening.
Freshman Carly Cummings finished 40th in 1:00.97.
100 Backstroke
Falconer is the first alternate after posting a personal-best 52.06 to win her heat in prelims. The time was .07 faster than her leadoff on the relay from a day ago.
Sonnele Oeztuerk finished 32nd in 53.04.
200 Medley Relay
Auburn is the second alternate after Falconer (24.70), Roman (27.56), Black (23.09) and Ashton Ellzey (22.15) went 1:37.50 during the morning swim. It took a 1:37.45 to make the top 16 and a 1:37.04 to make the top 8.
