HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn women's golf team concluded the first round of play Friday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
Senior Michaela Owen and freshman Julie McCarthy led the way for Auburn with scores of 75 (+4). McCarthy had a pair of birdies on the day. Sophomore Elena Hualde and senior Kelli Murphy both posted rounds of 77 (+6), and sophomore Kayley Marschke shot 78 (+7).
As a team, Auburn shot 304 (+20) and is tied for 17th place at the Long Cove Club (par 71; 6,265 yards). Alabama leads the tournament at 2-over, followed by Northwestern (+3) and Arkansas (+6).
