AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn women's golf team reached its highest spring ranking of the Melissa Luellen era this week, moving up to No. 20 in the nation according to Golfstat.
The Tigers have earned top-five finishes in two of their three spring tournaments so far, including a fourth-place showing at last week's Evans Derby Experience at the Auburn University Club.
"The solid play from our team during the entire season, but in particular the past month, has allowed us to compete at a very high level," Luellen said. "It is fun for Coach Pratt and I to watch the confidence grow in our players. They are on a mission every day to get better and proudly represent Auburn."
Seniors Michaela Owen and Kelli Murphy have led the charge for Auburn this season. Murphy currently owns the Tigers' top scoring average at 72.67, and Owen is just behind at 72.72. Both players have four top-20 finishes this year.
Auburn plays its final event of the regular season next weekend when the Tigers travel to Browns Summit, N.C., for the Bryan National Collegiate. The tournament runs Friday-Sunday, April 6-8, at the Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center.
