Alison Maillard and Pete Turnham made it 2-for-2 on Tuesday, finishing in the top 12 in their respective events to guarantee both will compete in both springboard events at this month's NCAA Championships.
"Another strong day for us as Pete and Alison secured their second springboard spot," diving coach Jeff Shaffer said.
Maillard, a sophomore from Houston, ensured herself a pair of springboard events, finishing fourth on the 3-meter with a 12-dive score of 619.25. She had advanced to the finals off of a personal-best 315.55 prelims, which placed her fifth.
"Alison was real steady with two lists over 300, which is real encouraging," Shaffer said. "We have a little work to do on finishing some dives which will give her a little better scoring and placing opportunity at NCAAs."
Turnham, a senior from Auburn, finished ninth in Tuesday's 1-meter competition with a 12-dive score of 650.85. He had advanced into the 18-person final with a 312.25 in the 33-person prelims.
"Pete was not real sharp in prelims but stepped up in his second list and did a really nice job," Shaffer said. "I'm very proud of his effort and his getting to the NCAA Championships in his final season."
Both Maillard (1-meter) and Turnham (3-meter) had already earned NCAA spots during Monday's competition.
Freshman Logan Andrews advanced to the 1-meter finals after placing 17th in prelims with a 283.85. A 294.70 score on his second six-dive list gave him a 578.55, finishing 17th overall.
"It was good to see Logan get a second list on 1-meter at the zone meet as a freshman," Shaffer said. "That will be big experience for him to help him with platform tomorrow and helping him to understand what it takes to compete at this level in the future."
The Zone Championships conclude on Wednesday with the men's and women's platform competitions.
The event is at the Jones Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee.
