Big Weekend Ahead for Auburn T&F

A big weekend lies ahead for the Auburn track and field team as the Tigers will send 26 athletes to compete at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia beginning Thursday, while a smaller group will be at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

There are 14 men and 12 women scheduled to participate at the Penn Relays, which is the largest and oldest track and field competition held in the United States.

The men scheduled to compete for Auburn include: Nathon Allen, Cade Antonucci, Evan Blaire, Akeem Bloomfield, Joshua Burks, Justin Carter, Randall Ceneus, Raheem Chambers, Xavier Coakley, Benedict Draghi, Noah Igbinoghene, John Putnam, Mark Rubalcaba and Chiason Tenkiang.

On the women's side, Jenae Ambrose, Dominique Bullock, Ashley Carter, Kylee Carter, Jakayla Hand, Deja Hillman, Tori McKinley, Peyton Montgomery, Ivana Muzaric, Erin Perkins, Jonielle Smith, and Natalliah Whyte will represent Auburn.

In 2017, Auburn has a successful appearance at the Penn Relays, winning the college men's 4x400m relay Championship of America Invitational in a time of 3:05.19. That relay consisted of current athletes Randall Ceneus, Akeem Bloomfield and Nathon Allen and with former Tiger Teray Smith.

Almost 1300 miles away from Philadelphia, Auburn will also have athletes competing in the LSU Invitational. The field will have five SEC schools including host LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

Sherwayne Allen, Jaron Brooks and Chris Stone will be the men competing for Auburn while the women will be represented by Katherine Boone, Skyler Daniel, Anna Gierow, Caroline Lawrence, Myra Mack, Tyra Massey and Danielle Springer.

The Auburn women head into the weekend ranked 27th in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, up nine spots from last week, while the men head into the weekend ranked 40th.

The Penn Relays will begin Thursday at 10 am EST with the women's 400m dash and the LSU Invite will begin Saturday at 9:30 am CST with the women's discus.
