AUBURN, Ala. - Three weekend matches close the home portion of the 2018 spring schedule for the Auburn men's tennis team.
The Tigers host No. 35 Ole Miss Friday at 6 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. On Sunday, Auburn seniors Viboosh Chandrasekar and Edward Nguyen will be honored as the Tigers entertain No. 44 Arkansas at 1 p.m. and host Alabama A&M in a 4:30 p.m. match.
Nguyen, from Montreal, Canada, has posted 24 career singles wins and 33 wins in doubles during three seasons at Auburn; he serves as team captain and is playing in the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles this season. Chandrasekar, from Boston, Mass., has been a four-year competitor for Auburn; he has posted 7 singles wins and 5 in doubles while battling injuries.
Friday evening, fans will receive an assortment of giveaways, including Aubie tumblers, koozies, Auburn tennis t-shirts, sunglasses and free Chick-fil-A sandwiches while supplies last. Between doubles and singles on Friday, there will be a paper airplane contest with the closest to the mark winning an Auburn prize pack.
On Sunday, Senior Day ceremonies will take place between doubles and singles, and fans can take away free t-shirts, koozies and sunglasses.
The Tigers are now 10-14 overall and 0-8 in SEC play; freshman Matteo De Vincentis is ranked No. 100 in singles nationally. No. 35 Ole Miss is 12-9 overall and 2-7 in SEC action this season. Tim Sandkaulen (30) and Gustav Hansson (40) are nationally ranked in singles and Ole Miss has three rated doubles combinations (Sandkaulen/Fabian Fallert 19; Sandkaulen/Grey Hamilton 56; Zvonimir Babic/Hansson 80).
No. 44 Arkansas is 12-11 overall and 3-6 in SEC play entering this weekend; Jose Salazar is No. 38 nationally in singles and the doubles tandem of Adam Sanjurjo and Oscar Mesquida is ranked No. 88. Alabama A&M is 3-9 this season.
All Auburn home matches are held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn), and admission is free.
