BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" A 36-hole, 11-hour day on Friday saw the Auburn women's golf team just two shots out of the lead after two rounds at the Bryan National Collegiate.

The Tigers posted rounds of 295-294=589 (+13) and are tied with Wake Forest for third place at the Bryan Park Champions Course (par 72, 6,386 yards). With inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday, the teams played 36 holes today, teeing off at 7:30 a.m. CT and finishing around 6:30 p.m.

"Today was 36 windy holes on a very good golf course," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "I was impressed with the complete team effort today as everyone contributed. It will be fun to be in the final pairing; however, the girls need to take it one shot at a time. We didn't get into this position by thinking about winning. No need to focus on that tomorrow."

Sophomore Kayley Marschke led the way for Auburn with rounds of 72-73=145 (+1) and is tied for seventh place in the 95-player field. Marschke opened with an even-par 72 and was tied for fourth after the first round; she was 2-over through six holes but birdied three of her final 12 holes against one bogey to finish at level par. Round two saw her get to red numbers with a birdie at the sixth, and then she bounced back after a rough stretch to birdie 17 and 18 and finish 1-over.

Freshman Julie McCarthy is in the top 20 after rounds of 76-72=148 (+4). After a late double bogey derailed a promising first round, she carded five birdies in her second round to climb from a tie for 40th to a tie for 16th.

Sophomore Elena Hualde and senior Kelli Murphy were one shot back of McCarthy at 5-over. Hualde posted rounds of 74-75, and Murphy flipped the scores with rounds of 75-74. Freshman Mychael O'Berry is tied for 43rd after scores of 74-78=152.

North Carolina, at 11-over, is one shot ahead of Furman (+12) and two shots ahead of Auburn and Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons' Emilia Migliaccio is the individual leader at 3-under par.

Weather permitting, the final round will begin at 9 a.m. CT Saturday. Should weather not allow the final round to be played Saturday, play will resume Sunday at a time to be determined.
