Tucson, Ariz. - The Auburn track and field team claimed eight event wins and posted 21 personal bests at the Jim Click Shootout at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium on the University of Arizona campus Saturday.
Highlighting the performances was in the men's and women's javelin as the Tiger posted a clean sweep in both events as the men finished 1-2-3, while the women had the top four performers.
Freshman Cade Antonucci won the men's javelin with a PR throw of 231-5, which is the second best mark in school history. Teammate John Putnam was second (222-6) and Justin Carter (213-2) was third.
On the women's side, school record holder Kylee Carter won the women's javelin with a throw of 170-6. The mark was the second-best in AU history. Peyton Montgomery (150-3) was second, Ashley Carter (146-8) was third and Kenra Mitchell (146-1) took fourth.
Freshman Tori McKinley set the Auburn freshman record in the women's shot put with a throw of 51-10 to win the event. Her mark broke the 18-year old previous record of 49-8.75 held by Stacy Martin (2000).
Junior Mark Rubalcaba won the men's triple jump with a leap of 49-8.5 and followed up with a bronze medal in the long jump (24-2.5).
Senior Jakayla Hand recorded a pair of PRs in the jumps, as she took first in the triple jump with a mark of 43-8.5.
Senior Dominique Bullock won the women's long jump (19-8.75), while also placing fourth in the 100m dash (11.72).
On the track, senior Randall Ceneus won the men's 400m in 46.68, while Jenae Ambrose won the women's 100m dash in 11.45. Ambrose also grabbed silver in the 200m in 23.38.
The Auburn women were third in the team standings with 121 points, while the men were fifth with 75 points.
Auburn will return to action when it hosts the Tiger Track Classic, next weekend, April 13-14 at the Hutsell-Rosen Track.
