NORMAN, Okla. ââ'¬" Junior Trace Crowe and sophomore Jovan Rebula shot below-par rounds to pace No. 7 Auburn on the second day of the NCAA Norman Regional Tuesday. As a team, the Tigers are tied for fourth after 36 holes at the Jimmie Austin OU Club.
Crowe produced one of the best rounds of the day in the field at 69 (-3). He was one of just 11 golfers to shoot in the 60s and currently stands in a tie for third individually.
Rebula carded three birdies, including two on the front nine en route to shooting a 71 (-1). He is positioned in a tie for 29th overall.
Freshman Brandon Mancheno turned in a steady even par round of 72 that featured two birdies on both the front and back nine in his second tour of the course.
Fellow freshman Wells Padgett and senior Ben Schlottman rounded out the Auburn lineup with rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2), respectively.
The Tigers racked up 18 birdies as a team with nine coming both before and after the turn Tuesday.
Auburn is tied for fourth with BYU at -3 after 36 holes of play. The top five teams following the final round of the regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 25-30.
No. 2 Oklahoma is currently in first at -9, followed by Pepperdine (-7), North Florida (-5), Auburn (-3), BYU (-3), No. 23 Florida State (+1), Virginia (+2), Nevada (+3), San Diego State (+4), No. 15 Arkansas (+5), Sam Houston State (+14), UMKC (+14), Navy (+49) and Prairie View A&M (+55).
The Tigers are paired with BYU and Florida State for the final round of the NCAA Norman Regional Wednesday morning. Tee times begin 8 a.m. CT off the No. 10 tee. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
