LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Auburn softball seniors Victoria Draper and Kaylee Carlson were named to the 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Southeast All-Region team announced Thursday by the NFCA. They are two of 389 student-athletes from 164 programs that received All-Region accolades.
Draper was tabbed First Team All-Region while Carlson was a Second Team selection.
Draper, a product of Moulton, Ala., led the team in batting average (.387), hits (58), runs scored (39) and on base percentage (.477). The senior also made her mark in the record books by swiping a single-season record 37 bases on 43 attempts. Draper ranks second all-time in career stolen bases at Auburn with 55 after entering the season with just 18 in her first three seasons.
Carlson has been part of one of the most dangerous 1-2 punches in the nation in the circle this season. The Garden Grove, Calif. product has teamed with Makayla Martin to lead the Auburn pitching staff to the fifth-lowest ERA in the nation at 1.32, which ranks as the lowest in program history.
Carlson has a season ERA of 1.34, which ranks third-lowest in program history. The senior holds two of the three lowest single-season ERAs in Auburn history after tabbing a 1.36 last season. Her career ERA of 1.61 is the lowest in program history.
The NFCA All-Region awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
Draper and Carlson will look to lead the Tigers to victory this weekend in the Tallahassee Regional. Auburn will get things started Saturday at 11 a.m. CT vs. Kennesaw State.
