Auburn Game Notes

AUBURN, Ala. - No. 15 Auburn softball will hit the road for a Sunday doubleheader at Chattanooga against the Chattanooga Mocs to close out the 2018 regular season. Game one begins tomorrow, May 6th, at 1 p.m. CT with game two following at approximately 3 p.m.

Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN and available on the WatchESPN app. Additionally, the games can be heard on FM Talk 95.9. Brit Bowen will have the call live from Chattanooga.

The Tigers enter the contest with a 38-14 overall record and will look to get to 40 wins for the eighth time in program history.

Chattanooga, led by head coach Frank Reed in his 17th season at the helm, is 25-26 on the year. Both games of the doubleheader have been announced as sellouts.

Upon completion of Sunday's games, the Tigers will turn full attention towards the SEC Tournament in Columbia, Mo, which will be held May 9-12. Auburn is currently projected as the eighth seed with one weekend of SEC play remaining.

Player to Watch: Makayla Martin
Martin is just one win away from picking up win No. 50 of her career. The San Diego product has a season ERA of 1.24, which is the third-lowest in a single season in school history. Martin and Kaylee Carlson have led the charge behind the Auburn pitching staff posting the sixth-lowest team ERA in the nation (1.29).

  • By sweeping the Chattanooga doubleheader, the Tigers would pick up their 39th and 40th wins of the season. It would be eight time in program history that Auburn would have 40 wins in a season.
  • Auburn and Chattanooga have met just three times with the Tigers holding a 2-1 lead. The teams last met on February 18, 2015 in a 12-1 win at Auburn. This will be the first time the Tigers will play at Chattanooga.
  • The Tigers pitching staff has posted a 1.29 ERA in 2018, by far the best in program history. The next closest mark came in 2004 (1.40).
  • Victoria Draper ranks seventh in the nation with 37 stolen bases this season (37-of-43). Her 0.71 stolen bases per game ranks 12th in the nation. The senior was 18-of-20 in her career prior to this season with a previous career-high nine steals on 10 attempts last season. Her 55 career steals rank second in program history.
