Education: Sandersen received his Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training in 2004 from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. In 2007 he earned his Master's Degree in Sports Health Care from A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. During his first year at A.T. Still, Sandersen was offered an internship with the Chicago Cubs during spring training 2006. He was then hired on full time by the Chicago Cubs following spring training, working full time for the Chicago Cubs while at A.T. Still.
Past Experience: Left NC State in 2017 to take the position of Senior Athletic Trainer at Auburn University. Left Auburn in August 2015 to take the position of Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at NC State following five years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with Auburn University, primarily working with the Tigers baseball program. Prior to his arrival in Auburn, Sandersen was employed with the Chicago Cubs Organization. He served as the Head Athletic Trainer with the Mesa Cubs, a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs in 2006. From 2007-2008 Sandersen was the Head Athletic Trainer with the Boise Hawks, a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Sandersen was then employed by the Milwaukee Brewers, for the 2009 & 2010 seasons. During his time there he served as Assistant Minor League Medical Coordinator and was in charge of the Rookie Level Minor League Team (AZL Brewers), provided medical coverage of all off-season training programs and instructional leagues, as well as administration duties assigned by the Minor League Medical Coordinator.
Personal: Anthony is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. He is also a certified member of the Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association, Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association, and North Carolina Board of Athletic Training Examiners. Sandersen is married to Sarah Jean Sandersen, and they have two children, Madalyn Ann and Ace Samuel.
