Education: Shearer received his bachelor's degree in broadcast news and a minor in history from the University of Colorado in 1988.
Job Responsibilities: In his 27th season covering Auburn, Shearer writes for Auburn Athletics' web site, http://www.auburntigers.com. He serves as a communications assistant to Chief Marketing Officer Ward Swift. Shearer also fills in as a play-by-play announcer for Auburn events on the SEC Network.
Past Experience: Shearer came to Auburn after serving as Sports Director at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Ala. He spent nearly 25 years at the NBC affiliate, anchoring the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts while covering local high schools and colleges, including Auburn. Shearer began his sportscasting career at KDUH in Scottsbluff, Neb., then worked at KSL-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Personal: A native of Ashland, Ohio, Shearer and his wife, Rhonda, have two daughters, Sara Schiller, an Auburn graduate, and Meagan, a current Auburn student. Their son-in-law, Chris Schiller, is also an Auburn graduate.
