ROSWELL, Ga. - Former Auburn standout and current Web.com Tour player Michael Hebert secured a spot in the 2018 U.S. Open following a tie for first at the 36-hole qualifier Monday.

Hebert, who was a two-time All-SEC selection for the Tigers, qualified for his first career U.S. Open.

The Orlando, Fla. native tied for first in a field of 43 at 2-under after firing rounds of 70 and 72 at Ansley Golf Club on the Settindown Creek Course.

Hebert tied with Garret Rank of Canada, while defeating professionals such as 2016 U.S. Senior Open champion Gene Sauers, PGA Tour Champions winner Scott McCarron, 2000 U.S. Amateur Public Links champion D.J. Trahan, 2005 USA Walker Cup competitor Kyle Reifers, Hawaii native Tadd Fujikawa, who qualified for the 2006 U.S. Open at the age of 15, and past U.S. Open competitor Roberto Castro.

Hebert joins fellow Auburn alum Jason Dufner in the field of 82 following Monday's qualifier with 74 spots still remaining.

Hebert is currently in the top 50 on the Web.com Tour's money list at $57,532 with a scoring average of 70.93 per round. He has a top-10 finish when he tied for fifth at the North Mississippi Classic at 8-under.

The 118th U.S. Open Championship is set to take place at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., June 14-17.
