NORMAN, Okla. - Auburn head men's golf coach Nick Clinard has been tabbed the Golf Pride Grips Southeast Region Coach of the Year, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Wednesday.
Clinard earned the Southeast Region Coach of the Year while leading UCF in 2009 and is the first Auburn coach to earn such distinction since Mike Griffin in 2002.
Under Clinard, the 2018 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year, the Tigers tied for third at the NCAA Championship in match play and fifth in stroke play - both the highest finishes in program history.
Auburn won four tournaments during the 2017-18 season, including the fourth SEC title in program history after defeating Alabama in match play.
The Tigers tied for the most All-Region honorees in senior Ben Schlottman, junior Trace Crowe, sophomore Jovan Rebula and freshman Brandon Mancheno.
Auburn was nationally ranked the entire campaign and finished sixth or better in every event. Individuals in the orange and blue carded 137 rounds at or below par, including 98 below par.
Clinard was also named a finalist for National Coach of the Year, the GCAA announced in late May.
