Auburn rising sophomore Mychael O'Berry claimed low amateur honors at last week's Tennessee Women's Open as the summer golf season begins to wind down.

O'Berry tied for fourth place overall in the 54-hole event that took place Thursday-Saturday at Stonehenge Golf Club in Crossville, Tenn. Her score of 72-74-68=214 (-2) was just two shots behind the tournament champion and was the best score from an amateur by five strokes. Her final-round 68 featured four birdies and no bogeys.

Auburn teammate and redshirt freshman Brooke Sansom joined O'Berry in Crossville, tying for 29th place at 226 (+10).

In other action, three Tigers competed at the European Ladies Amateur Championship last week in Slovakia. Rising sophomore Julie McCarthy and rising junior Elena Hualde were the top finishers among the Auburn contingent, tying for 33rd place at 291 (+3). Incoming freshman Anika Bolčíková also competed but missed the cut.

The team reports to Auburn in mid-August, and Bolčíková, Hualde and rising sophomore Kaleigh Telfer will head back across the pond in short order to represent their countries at the World Amateur Team Championships, set for Aug. 29-Sept. 1 at Carton House in Ireland. The 2018-19 regular season begins Sept. 21-23 at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
