AUBURN, Ala. – Members of the Auburn equestrian team were recognized for its national championship title with a Congressional Record presented by Congressman Mike Rogers Monday afternoon.

"When you're successful at anything, it doesn't just happen," Rep. Rogers said. "There is a whole lot of time building up to that success. We want to recognize not just this achievement, but that you've been disciplined enough for this long to make that kind of commitment to be successful."

In addition, the team received Resolutions from the Alabama Senate and Alabama House of Representatives, presented by Sen. Tom Whatley and Rep. Joe Lovvorn.

"It's just an honor," head coach Greg Williams added. "We love it when anyone recognizes the hard work this group puts in day in and day out. When you realize that the hard work is being seen at both the state and national level, it just means so much. This team is going to continue striving to earn that. This is a special moment for this group and we hope to replicate it again."

"It's always a great opportunity when our sport gets recognized," senior Lauren Diaz said. "To have someone with a high ranking not just in our state, but on the national level, recognize all the hard work the team puts in as well as what the coaches do for us is really special. I'm glad we could experience this together."

The 2018 NCEA title is the fifth for the program and second in the last three years. The Tigers return 13 of the starting 14 riders from the national title lineup.

The 2018-19 schedule is out and all home meets are held at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. Admission for all meets is free.
