AUBURN, Ala. – Junior midfielder Bri Folds played a key role in a pair of wins for Auburn soccer last week and has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, the publication announced Tuesday.

Folds turned in her first career brace and matched a career high with four points in the season opener at Samford last Thursday before assisting on the game-winning goal vs. No. 18 South Florida in the home opener Sunday.

It marks the second time in her career Folds has been named to the National Team of the Week.

"Bri had a great opening weekend against two quality opponents," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "As one of the leaders of our offense, she played a key role in setting the tone for the season."

Folds opened Auburn's scoring for the season as she hit a left-footed strike from the top of the 18-yard box over the head of the Samford goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The goal came in the 13th minute of the match and stood up as the game-winner in the 4-0 victory. Approximately 10 minutes later, she doubled the Tigers' advantage with a penalty-kick goal, the second of her career.

The Lakeland, Florida, native also played a pivotal role in defeating South Florida as she assisted on the game-winner in the 59th minute of a 2-1 win. Folds and teammate Rocio Sanders executed a short corner to near perfection and Jaelyn Gadson finished it off with a right-footed flick just outside the six-yard box.

Folds and Auburn remain on The Plains and host a pair of games this weekend. The Tigers will take on UAB Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT before closing out the week vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission to all home matches is free.
