AUBURN, Ala. – Coming off one of the better games in his career, Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis was named the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Davis finished with a game-high 13 tackles, including four tackles for loss, against LSU on Saturday. It was the fifth double-figure tackle game of his career. He also recorded one sack, one pass break-up and two quarterback hurries. The senior now has 24 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss through the team's first three games.
"Deshaun made multiple plays on the field," Auburn defensive lineman Marlon Davidson said. "I'm just proud of him for playing that hard for us and giving Auburn everything that he has."
Davis, a three-year starter for Auburn, had 150 career tackles coming into this season. He's also been an Academic Top Tiger and on the FCS Hard Fighting Soldier team.
Auburn will receive $1,000 for its general scholarship fund in recognition of his performance.
In May, Davis was one of 42 players selected as a candidate for the Lott IIMPACT Trophy, given annually to the defensive player who has had the biggest IMPACT on their teams both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
