AUBURN, Ala. – This weekend, while the Auburn women's golf team opens the season at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Tennessee, three former Tigers – Marta Sanz Barrio, Patricia Sanz Barrio and Carlie Carr – will be playing back in the state of Alabama at the Guardian Classic.

The event, which has a purse of $160,000 and is part of the LPGA Symetra Tour, will take place at the Capitol Hill Golf Club in Prattville, Alabama.

All three of the former Auburn golfers competing this weekend were on the 2010-11 and 2011-12 teams that won back-to-back SEC championships, and all three are excited to return to the state where they went to school and played together collegiately.

"Hearing 'War Damn Eagle' throughout the day is so great and I do enjoy seeing old friends while in town," Carr told Symetra Tour Communications. "I'm proud to say that Auburn's athletic program is the best in the country, and I am so glad I played for an amazing university."

Carr, who earned SEC All-Freshman honors at Auburn in 2010, will tee off with the third group Friday at 7:11 a.m. CT followed by by the Sanz Barrio sisters -- Patricia at 8:39 a.m. CT and Marta at 12:57 p.m. CT.

Marta, currently No. 32 on the tour money list, won the 2018 FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship event earlier this summer. The Spain native currently ranks seventh all-time in Auburn program history with a career stroke average of 74.61 following her junior season.

As for her older sister, Patricia, she won the individual title at the 2012 SEC tournament and became the sixth Auburn player to ever earn SEC medalist honors at the time.
