AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn softball team earned two victories in a doubleheader against Northwest Florida State CC and Wallace State CC-Hanceville at Jane B. Moore Field Sunday afternoon.
"Yesterday at practice, we made it very simple and refocused," head coach Mickey Dean said. "They showed today and yesterday in practice what they can do at the plate. I thought our pitchers did a pretty good job today. I like our progress, but we still have work to do. The players know that and the coaches know that.
"I want to thank the fans for coming out this weekend. We had a lot of fans at all three games and that really means a lot to both the players and the coaches."
In total, 12 players recorded at least one hit in the doubleheader, including seven players with multiple base knocks.
Casey McCrackin and Taylon Snow led the way with five and four hits, respectively. McCrackin totaled a team-best four RBI, highlighted by a 3-run home run. Taylon Snow contributed three RBI from the leadoff spot.
Brittany Maresette, Morgan Podany, Tannon Snow and Kendall Veach all added two hits. Makayla Martin also boasted a pair of base hits, including a run-scoring double.
In the circle, Martin tossed four innings and racked up three strikeouts. Ashlee Swindle also hurled four frames and totaled a team-high six punch outs.
