AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn softball team secured an exhibition win over Auburn University at Montgomery Friday night at Jane B. Moore Field.

"We did some good things tonight," head coach Mickey Dean said. "We still have some things that I know we're better at. Tonight, we played a few innings like we are supposed to, but then we got out of our game. We could be really good if we just focus on the simple stuff."

The Tigers produced 10 shutout innings in the circle and combined for 10 strikeouts behind the quartet of Lexie Handley, Chardonnay Harris, Makayla Martin and Ashlee Swindle.

Martin earned the starting nod and dominated from the opening pitch. The senior allowed only one hit and totaled four strikeouts in three innings of work.

Handley followed Martin's lead and went the next two innings without allowing a run to cross while also striking out one.

Swindle continued her successful fall with three strikeouts in as many innings, while Harris racked up a pair of sit-downs in the final two frames.

Auburn was led offensively by Brittany Maresette, Dakota Morrow, Taylon Snow and Martin.

Maresette and Snow smacked RBI doubles, while Martin and Morrow laced singles.

Morgan Podany also helped at the plate as she brought in a run on a groundout.

The Tigers were active on the basepaths as they had four stolen bases on the night, led by KK Crocker's two thefts.

Auburn returns to action next weekend for three exhibitions, beginning Friday night against Gulf Coast State College. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Jane B. Moore Field.
