AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men's tennis has a full roster competing in the 2018 ITA Southern Regionals this weekend at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala; other regional teams in action include Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, UAB and host Alabama.
In the singles qualifying round that begins Thursday morning, Diego Chavarria will face Tom Cecchetto of Southern Miss, Alex Rushin squares off against Jorman Reyes of Southern Miss, Michael Durham plays Panji Untung Setiawan of Southern Miss and Lorenzo Rodriguez competes against Rossouw Norval of Samford.
Senior Brandon Laubser received the No. 3 qualifying seed and Tad Maclean is a No. 9-16 qualifying seed, earning them first-round byes.
Matteo DeVincentis, the No. 6 overall singles seed, and Tim Dollman begin competition Saturday in the singles main draw. Dollman will face Tulane's Luis Erlenbusch in his opening match. DeVincentis will match up against a winner from the qualifying round matches.
In doubles, DeVincentis and Dollman will team up to face Sacha Modica and Samuel Serrano of South Alabama in first-round play, and Michael Durham and Alex Rushin will take on Louisiana-Lafayette's Pearse Dolan and Arthur Libaud.
Earning byes, Diego Chavarria and Lorenzo Rodriguez will face Mississippi State's Filip Kraljevic and Tim Sandkaulen in second-round doubles action, while Brandon Laubser and Tad Maclean will compete against Max Rebol and Aleksander Petrovic of Samford.
Competition concludes with the championship matches Tuesday. The finalists qualify for the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships held in Arizona in November.
