AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn softball team closed out its annual fall exhibition schedule with a victory against Snead State Thursday night at Jane B. Moore Field.
"After the second inning, I was extremely pleased," head coach Mickey Dean said. "I thought we tried to be too big in the first two innings and we got ourselves into some trouble. We refocused and I'm proud of that. In the past, sometimes we haven't been able to do that."
Nine players tallied a hit, highlighted by Makayla Martin and Justus Perry, who each had two base knocks.
Bree Fornis launched a run-scoring triple off the wall in center, while Dakota Morrow and Tannon Snow both notched a double.
Morgan Podany and Taylon Snow also contributed to the scoring output with one RBI apiece.
In the circle, the trio of Chardonnay Harris, Lexie Handley and Ashlee Swindle struck out seven in the seven-inning affair.
With the victory, the Tigers put a cap on the competition portion of its fall slate and will end the offseason following a final week of practice.
"We made progress this fall," Dean said. "If you were able to come watch us from the first fall game to the last fall game, there's no way that you can sit there and say that you did not see a great deal of progress."
