WINDERMERE, Fla. – The No. 20 Auburn men's golf team is tied for second following the first round of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The Tigers shot a 4-under 284 in their first circuit of Isleworth CC and are all square with No. 25 Cal on the leaderboard.
Brandon Mancheno led the way for Auburn with a 5-under 67 and is tied for third overall. The sophomore carded a team-best seven birdies, including four straight from the 11th to the 14th holes, in his first tour of the par-72 course.
Jacob Solomon also went below par and carded a 1-under 71. The senior, who is tied for 15th, turned 13 pars and three birdies. Solomon's best stretch came from the fourth to the 15th holes when he had 10 pars to go along with two birdies.
Logged into a 10-way tie for 27th, Graysen Huff finished his first round of the tournament with an even-par 72. Despite starting the day at 2-over through the opening five holes, the junior shot 2-under with three birdies and nine pars in the final 13 holes.
Jovan Rebula and Andrew Kozan rounded out the Auburn contingent and are tied for 45th and 67th, respectively. Rebula shot a 2-over 74, while Kozan carded a 7-over 79.
No. 13 Vanderbilt leads the invitational at 12-under (276), followed by No. 20 Auburn and No. 25 Cal (284), Texas Tech (285), Florida and No. 9 Illinois (286), Washington and No. 18 Arizona State (287), No. 10 Texas and West Virginia (288), No. 22 LSU (292), Augusta (293), No. 24 South Carolina (295), UCF (296) and North Texas (304).
Auburn is paired with Cal and Vanderbilt for the second round on Monday off the first tee box, beginning at 8:40 a.m. CT. Live stats are available on Golfstat.com.
