AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men's tennis had a productive weekend of competition at the 2018 ITA Southern Regionals, played at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Brandon Laubser and Lorenzo Rodriguez advanced to the main draw from the qualifying round, where Matteo DeVincentis and Tim Dollman were seeded players for Auburn. Rodriguez advanced to the Round of 16, the top Auburn finish in singles. All eight Auburn competitors posted at least one singles win.
"I'm pleased with the direction that the team is heading," Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds said. "The guys have dedicated themselves to their fitness this fall, and it's paying dividends in their performance so far.
"The ITA regional tournament allowed for the guys to get many competitive matches in against players they will see again in the spring. We will take the areas that need improvement to the practice courts over the next couple of weeks, and work to finish off the fall on a high note in Austin." The Tigers return to action November 9-11 at the Texas Fall Invitational.
Other teams competing at the ITA Southern Regionals included Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, UAB and host Alabama.
