AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 14 Auburn men's golf team is set to close out the fall schedule with the East Lake Cup, Oct. 29-31, at East Lake GC. It is the Tigers' first appearance in the tournament in program history.
Auburn earned its way into the field by advancing to the semifinals of match play at the 2018 NCAA Championship. The Tigers are one of four in the field, joined by No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Duke and No. 4 Alabama.
"We're going to play at a great venue this week," head coach Nick Clinard said. "East Lake Golf Club has hosted the Tour Championship since 2005 and is an outstanding course. Our team will be ready to go and compete against some of the best programs in the country."
Auburn's lineup for the week on the par-72 course consists of Trace Crowe, Brandon Mancheno, Wells Padgett, Jovan Rebula and Jacob Solomon.
The East Lake Cup will be contested over three days, following the format from the NCAA men's national championships. On Monday, Oct. 29, the four teams will compete in individual stroke play competition to determine the individual champion and to seed for two days of match-play competition. Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 30-31, the four teams will square off in match play with the semifinals taking place on Tuesday and the finals and consolation matches on Wednesday.
The Tigers begin stroke play at 10:55 a.m. CT with Padgett in the first foursome off the No. 1 tee box.
Live tournament coverage of the East Lake Cup will air on Golf Channel from 2-5 p.m. CT Monday-Wednesday and will replay from 9 p.m. - 12 a.m. CT each night. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
