Freshman Peyton Hall's mindset and goal going into each meet is to always remain calm and put down a clean pattern. She makes sure to do whatever it takes to show the horse the best way that she can. She draws to the best of the horse's abilities to ultimately avoid making little mistakes.
"I plan on putting in a lot of hard work and helping out wherever I'm needed," Hall said. "I plan on helping with whatever my other teammates need, in the saddle and out of it."
Prior to Auburn, Hall was 2018 AQHA Youth World Reserve Champion. She looks at this as one of her biggest accomplishments in her equestrian career. This was the second time that Hall had competed at a show that large, and it was the last big competition of her youth career before heading off to the Plains.
"Coming away with a reserve champion title was really special," Hall said. "It was so fulfilling to see the hard word I'd put in all summer pay off."
Q: When deciding where you wanted to go to school, what made you decide to come to Auburn?
A: I came to Auburn for an equestrian clinic and really fell in love with the town and the environment. Everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming. I immediately felt at home here.
Q: What's your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: Rolling Toomer's is my favorite tradition. The support that Auburn fans give their teams after a win is incredible. The atmosphere downtown after is electric.
Q: What started your love for equestrian?
A: I grew up around horses. I started riding when I was 2 and began taking lessons when I was 8. I've never really known a life without them, so it was natural for me to start riding competitively. I love how gratifying working with a horse can be. The days when all the elements come together and you have a really good ride are some of the best days.
Q: What's your biggest goal athletically while being at Auburn?
A: My biggest goal is to win eight rings.
Q: What are you majoring in and what made you want to pursue that major?
A: I am majoring in Animal Sciences. I've wanted to go to vet school since I was five years old. I love helping animals and making a career out of it has been my dream forever.
Q: What makes equestrian unique from other sports at Auburn?
A: Equestrian is unique because it takes an individual sport and makes it team oriented. In regular competitions, the only score that matters to how well you perform is your own. Coming into college and having a whole team behind you is so much different. The team is so close and that's amazing to me because most of us come from an environment where it's everyone for themselves.
Q: What's your favorite thing about your hometown?
A: My favorite thing about Shreveport is that my friends, family, and horses are there.
Q: What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
A: My favorite home cooked meal is my uncle's gumbo.
Q: If you could give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
A: Please come out to the meets! Equestrian is appreciated so much at Auburn and the feeling that the school is behind us when we compete is so amazing.
